From Spain’s most renowned wine region we selected its prized Tempranillo grape. Then treated it with patience. After 20 months aging in oak and two years in the bottle, this Criterion rewarded us with a dark fruit body, velvety mouth, and long, elegant aftertaste.
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control; maceration for 18 days, 20-months in American (70%) and French oak (30%) followed by further aging in bottle.
The Rioja region is one of the highest quality regions in Spain. The Sierra de Cantabria protects the vines from the harsh rain bearing winds of the Atlantic as well as producing rich limestone soils allowing for a beautiful terroir resulting in rich and enticing wine.
Our Criterion Rioja pairs well next to a spicy seafood paella or with stuffed Portobello mushrooms.
